This is a really well done tutorial on how to build very affordable basement storage shelves. This would be a great way to organize your basement within a small budget. I like that there are backs to the shelves since this makes the units much sturdier, because you know you will fill any shelves you have and they will likely be quite heavy. The only other thing I would say is that you are probably going to want to attach the finished shelving units to the wall, just to make sure they are safe from falling.
