I like the concept, but I was thinking the ropes should be weaved together some how. I'm going to make this but weave though out the rug so it stays together just in case the glue fails. I like the rubber backing idea to keep the rug from slipping. All in all I think this is a good idea and nice project to do with the pre-teen grand kids. Thanks for sharing this free DIY project.

This could not have come at a better time. I am moving and the foot traffic is going to heavy. This will be perfect for both doors and easy to make. Thanks!

I was kind of disappointed to find out that she just glued the rope to an existing mat. I was curious to see how she fastened the rope together, but she didn't. I wonder if it would work to stitch the rope pieces together? You'd probably have to use spray rug backing to keep it in place. Intersting project!

Thank you so much for this great idea because it is exactly what our back porch needs! For ages I have been looking for a small rug to put at the door from the porch into the house but none I have seen have suited the slightly rustic decor we have. This simple rug is the perfect answer AND I am also going to make one for the door into my craft studio. 2 problems solved by one simple, clever craft idea!

Oh, how clever. I really like the idea of combining ropes to make a rug.
