there is something so homey about a fireplace and mantel, and this is such a lovely idea for those not having one. To get really creative, it would require some skill and effort, but you could possibly put an electric outlet near the top of it, or at lease run one of those cord covers so you could put a lamp on it, or if your wall already has wall sconces, place the mantel between or under them! Although, candles are always a good way to embellish as shown. I love that you can put your mantel anywhere to add such a homey touch! Great idea, thanks for sharing!

My husband is constantly working on new house projects; I think this is next on the list.
