Organizing Your Desk?

This project is ideal for organizing your desk or workspace as it allows you to keep the paper stacked, but also provides a system of organization and sorting. You could easily update this project to include labels for each shelf! If you're working on a desk makeover or clean up, make sure to consider the following:

  1. Out of Sight Out of Mind: Do you use paper piles and notebooks as a visual reminder to complete tasks? If so, make sure not to tuck them away where you can see them. It could lead to forgotten projects.

  2. Easy Access Every Day: Use something every single day? Make sure you keep it in reach. Chances are everyday items will hang out on your desk anyway. Giving them a home makes sure they are organized.

  3. Stay Tidy: Just spending a day decluttering your workspace is not a cure for a messy desk! Once you makeover your desk, be sure to keep in the habit of making it tidy.

I like that you used items you already had and adapted them to your needs. I find that most of the DIY projects I choose I end up adapting for our household size and need. Thank you for choosing something that we could all make use of whether it is for school, crafts, bills, or other organization ideas.

While I've rarely done any work with cutting wood, I love to make craft boxes like these for every different organization imaginable. I usually just end up buying some of the flatter dowels the right length for my project at my local craft store or walmart and then adding them to those hard plastic big clear tupperwares for storage. Or gluing them into baskets. Comes out looking just as good and lasts almost as long.

I have similar wood storage trays like this that work well, but they were expense and not always the needed size. This project looks so professional and organized and would end the frustration of searching for the exact paper you need for a project. And you can adapt this idea to create the size that you may need for the papers you specifically work with, so customization is an added option and benefit. Thank you for sharing!

This is great way to keep your paper from damage. I admit, I have lots of paper for making cards and this would be an easy project to create a sturdy shelf to keep my paper organized. Have you ever tried those cardboard paper organizers? They aren't heavy duty enough to handle the weight of the paper and end up collapsing after only a short time of use. Making the organizer out of wood is a huge improvement on the cardboard type. You could make it larger for your 12" x 12" sheets of cardstock too if you wanted. You could also paint it any color.

I love anything that helps me stay organized. This would be great for all of my papers from school!
