This DIY hooks tutorial is perfect for the thrifty, advanced DIY-er. Learn How to Make Custom "S" Hooks to fit all of your crafting needs. Sometimes it's difficult finding the right size S hooks, and even then, they can get expensive at hardware stores. But with this tutorial, you can make your own on a budget, and you can make sure they come out perfect each time. There are six steps to making your own hooks, so it's surprisingly quick to make a few at a time. After this tutorial, you'll always have "S" hooks on hand.

Other DIY Wall Hook Ideas

  1. Painted plastic zoo animals/dinosaurs. Put those old kids toys to use with this unique wall hook idea! Paint over the figurines, cut their back ends off, and glue them to a wood plank to mount on your wall! 
  2. Rolling pins. This is perfect quirky kitchen decor. Saw your old rolling pins in half and either drill or glue them to a wood plank to hang your aprons or dish towels on! 
  3. Vintage door knobs. If you're an avid thrift shopper, keep an eye out for unique door knobs! You can glue them to a plank or screw them into the wall to make gorgeous wall hooks.
  4. Silverware. If you just got a new set of flatware and don't want the old ones, melt them into a hook shape and turn them into hangers for your kitchen accessories!
  5. PaintbrushesAfter a lot of uses, paintbrushes stop being effective. Instead of throwing them out, turn them into fun wall hooks for your garage or crafting room.
  6. Trophie figurines. Next time you're at a garage sale and someone is selling some old bowling trophies, consider picking them up to use their metal figurines as unique wall hooks.
  7. Iron Rakes. This hook idea is great for holding wine glasses, because the stems slide right between the prongs!

My first name starts with an "S," so while this tutorial serves as a GREAT practical item for around the house... my narcissism demands that I hang S hooks all over my home just in case guests forget whose home they're in. These S hooks, then, are practical AND decorative. )

My brother was JUST talking about needing some S hooks. Good to see there are instructions for them. Now is as good a time as any to try our hand at these.
