Fall scents tend to be warmer earthier tones like crisp apple and warm vanilla and cinnamon so I'm lucky to find a DIY version. However, I want this scent to last longer so maybe I could boil it down and make my own room freshener that evaporates.

Instead of putting on the stove top try putting the homemade room freshener on a warmer that people use for candles or to keep a cup of tea warm lasts longer and smells just as good.

This air freshener will really make your home feel like fall but it would be great to use any time of the year. The air fresheners you purchase in the store can become costly. With apples being a less expensive fruit and I know I can pick up those cinnamon sticks in my dollar store, there is no reason to have a "smelly" home. Thanks for the idea.

I am terribly allergic to many of the fabric sprays and some of them contain chemicals that are not healthy for you, and sometimes candles can cause difficulties for those with respiratory problems, so this is a great solution! You could also do peppermint or vanilla extract for different scents, and with boiling water you also have an added advantage of putting some humidity in the air which is great for some winter climates. Make a potpourri of scents for a gift!

I love the smell of fall, so I can't wait to try this project!

Being the mom of two wonder fur babies and one grandcat, I am always on the lookout for ways to keep our home smelling like a home and not a barn. This recipe is simple and I plan to try it out asap.

Oooh I'm totally doing this this weekend. My apartment is pretty small so if there's a bad smell, it can spread pretty quickly. So I'm going to counteract that with good smells!

This is fabulous! Half of the reason I cook at all is for the way it makes my house smell.

I used to do this on the stove-top, as directed but now do this in a slow cooker. I also do NOT put in the brown sugar. There are multiple ways you can adjust the scent by switching up your herbs/spices/fruit. Such as water, ground cinnamon, whole cloves, and a few slices or peels from an orange. For a more savory scent you can use water, rosemary sprigs, whole peppercorns, and sage leaves. Just use your imagination and put in things that make your nose happy!
