One of the first things I've always looked for in a project for the house has been efficiency combined with style, so I've always loved making basket shelves, both for my walls and stand alone units that I get all the baskets for and then piece together. The thing I find most useful about this project has to be the versatility factor, though. They're easy to make and very easy to put together, and then I can make slight changes to get a completely new look with little effort.

This is a great idea. I was remodeling my house last year and had purchased baskets to do this in my guest bath. However, after alot of consternation and several "what ifs" we discovered there is no practical way to mount these to be able to hold anything but small knick knacks , small soaps, etc. Nothing heavy. I am not trying to nix this idea, as I love it - I just don't see it holding books, etc. without alot of reinforcement to prevent them from tearing out of the wall. I ended up returning the baskets. (

This is so unfair. You are always showing ideas that make me do a palm slap to the head asking myself why I didn't think of this? This is great. I have a big blank wall above the desk in my craft room. This would be so neat. I have so many different containers all over. I do crochet, knit, macrame, painting, Clay, and more. I could get it all up at eye level and save my old back from bending. I have baskets stacked on the floor so I am ready to go. Thank you so much for this inspiration.

Who ever has enough storage? And, because my wonderful husband works so hard, I am always interested to see solutions that I can do myself without having to bother him. Not only is this basket shelves project one of those that I can do without help but it is also such a fabulous and eye catching idea. My craft studio is definitely going to benefit from this and so is our teenage daughters bedroom, lol!

Huh. Wow! That's a really clever way to make some extra shelves. Looks pretty kitschy, too.

I love this organization idea! What a great way to make your own storage space!

I've always adored this idea because I've seen it in a few magazines, but this will definitely motivate me to actually try it out.
