Materials List

  • Terra cotta pots
  • Paint
  • Jute twine or baker’s twine
  • Jingle bells
  • Paint brush

  1. Paint your clay pots the color of your choice with craft paint.

  2. Be sure to paint the inside as well as the outside. Multiple coats may be required.

  3. I used baker’s twine on my terra cotta bells but you can use jute twine or any twine you have on hand. Be sure the twine you choose will fit through the hole in the bottom of the planter pot.

  4. Add your jingle bell to the twine and tie a knot where the bell will hang just below the lip of the clay pot.

  5. String through the hole in the planter pot and tie at the top to hang on your tree.

  6. Hang these fun DIY clay pot Christmas ornaments on your tree. These simple ornaments that you can make yourself will look great on your tree.

These bells are lovely! For many years I had the red plastic lighted ones up in my home and they were very vintage and homey and these remind me of them. I think I would use some satin or metallic cording instead of the twine to give it less of a rustic look, and more if a glam look, because that is just me! But these are very nice too! You could even embellish the pot bell by gluing on some pretty ribbon trim, ric rac or even some pretty rhinestones or crystal seed needs here and there. You could cluster three smaller pot bells together for another pretty look! Great creative idea.... Thanks for sharing!
