Believe it or not, I have actually dine this in years past using Christmas cookie cardboard bike and keeping them for years as a bit of nostalgia, because then the boxes became sort of vintage! I have also used plastic packing material and cut it to fit the right size to store lights and also glass beaded garland or tinsel garland. It lays nice and flat and really keeps things organized and easy to pack away.

We used to do this with our lights every year because no matter what we did we could not keep those things untangled. I love that you recycle something to serve another purpose before you throw it out. You just put the lights on the tree, pitch, and use a new box after the holidays to make fresh ones that are not bent.

I hate trying to untangle Christmas lights every year. This is such a simple idea to keep them organized. Will definitely be doing this!
