DIY Planter Instructions

  1. Make sure your coffee tin is clean and has no sharp edges before you start. Then, start by covering your coffee tin with whatever duct tape you would like. Take your time to make sure you don't get any wrinkles as you go.

  2. When you get all the way around your first row, cute it off and start your new row. When you start your new row overlap it just a little bit.

  3. Decorate your ribbon with washi tape, if you would like. This step is totally optional.

  4. Find where your seems are for your tape, and that will be where the seams of your ribbon will be as well. Add tacky blue to each end and one strip down the middle. Then, carefully set that down on the seam on the back and smooth it around.

  5. Hold that in place for a few seconds to make sure it really sticks.

  6. Let that dry for a few hours, and then it is ready to have a plant put in it!

My daughter introduced me to the wonders of crafting with decorative duct tape and washi tape and this coffee tin upcycled planter or vase would be right up her alley! And there are so many colors and patterns to choose from, that you can make these to appeal to many different types of decor! Burlap or seashells for the shabby chic look, or glam it up,with glass pebbles for some sparkle! Love it!
