My partner and I are trying to get our garden up and running. I have always wanted to grow raspberry bushes, I have been told if you have blackberry bushes you cant have a raspberry bush, is this true? Also are they hard to establish in a garden? Where is the best spot for growing them as well?

I love raspberries too and have been thinking about attempting to grow one but I was told that the birds eat the berries way to quick and they draw snakes. Is this true? Also I live in Charlotte,NC and I do not know if it will live through winter. I love this tutorial on how to care for raspberries.Makes it not so scary anymore. Thanks for the push to grow some.
