Love Life Palette

Create this stunning Love Life Palette to add to your home decor. Transform your favorite “words to live by” into unique wall art using die-cut letters and sophisticated foil finishes. This technique can be used to add dimension and shine to any porous surface, including paper. Rustic wood pallet ideas are trendy and chic, but the shimmering foil finishes make this project extra special. If you are looking for home decorating ideas that are sure to bring a smile to your face every time you see them, this beautiful wood pallet project is just what you need.

Materials List

  • Rustic wooden palette, 11-1/2”x11”
  • Acrylic paint
  • iCraft® Deco Foil™ Foam Adhesive Sheets
  • iCraft® Deco Foil™ Transfer Sheets: Pink Melon, Gold, Teal
  • Tools: dies or electronic cutting system, ruler

Follow manufacturer’s directions throughout. Step-out photos show larger shape for detail; follow same steps to create letters.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Paint horizontal planks of palette desired color; let dry. Apply second coat; let dry.

  2. Plan wording at desired size. Die cut necessary letters from Deco Foil Foam Adhesive Sheets.

  3. Using photo as guide, separate words into groups by desired color. For example, LOVE is Pink Melon, LIVE is Teal and remaining words are Gold. Be sure no letters are reversed.

  4. Remove paper liner from front of first foam letter.

  5. Place foam letters, sticky side down, onto back of desired Deco Foil Transfer Sheet. Be sure letters do not touch as adhesive is very strong.

  6. Turn foil sheet over and rub over all shapes with fingertips.

  7. Carefully peel away foil sheet from letters.

  8. Remove paper liner from back of each letter, one at a time, and press to palette.

I love the look of this pallet art. I am getting a few pallets to make a coffee cup holder, probably 2, so I am looking for ideas to decorate it. I do not think the words are a good idea, because they would be covered up by the coffee mugs, but I still love projects like this!

I absolutely adore this idea because it is so simple to make. My favorite part is that you can customize this artwork to say whatever you want. You can add your own decorations or just leave it plain depending on the design you want. Great idea for scraps or just someone who wants to stay busy.

This is a very trendy project and I have seen similar items in the store, but how much better to make your own with just the right words for you and your family! You can get the deco foil at the hobby shops or even online. I prefer a more finished look than the Roch pallet wood, so,I would opt to,either sand and stain, or even paint the wood in a color that would enhance the foil letters ... This would make a great housewarming gift or wedding present.... super idea!

Since I saw wooden palettes as decoration at my friends home, I think I fall in love with them. So glad I ran into this DIY wooden palette. I love the looks of this palette. The foil letters look very attractive on the wooden palette, and looks simple to do. But same as msdeb21, Im not familiar with deco foil and would love to know where to buy them. Thanks!

I am not familiar with this ICraft Deco Foil, but I love the look of pink and teal and gold on the wood pallet background. It would be fun deciding which words or phrases to use. Is this foil sold at craft retailers in the scrapbooking sections, or is it a specialty item?
