I think this is such a beautiful idea for a gift. We do not easily get turquoise in South Africa but I am thinking of using colored resin instead and seeing whether that looks good or not. We have found a suitable piece of wood to use as a test piece and are holding thumbs that it works out well.

The turquoise used in this project is so pretty and I never knew you could crush it the way it is used in this lovely cheese board. I could see taking this a step further and making a larger project such as a serving tray using this same method. Wouldn't this be a beautiful wedding or bridal shower gift? A great and pretty classy idea!
