I make drawstring bags in many sizes also. I've even made one to use in place of a gift bag, as you suggested. I embroidered the greeting on the fabric. It's a more environmentally friendly way to package gifts, I think, because the bag can be washed and used again to package another gift or to store something for a really long time.

have made many many drawstring bags but never a duffle bag. Why I do not know. Just never crossed my mind but I could have used that space better with it being rounded. This is going to be my must have bags for now on for putting those toys in for Christmas. I need them in a big size. This is a simple enough tutorial to follow and you can make your own pattern easy. I forgot about making the drawstring this way but it is so easy. I am so glad I saw this. This would be a great way to even wrap a gift instead of paper because you can use this bag for anything and if it is a toy for a child you already have the perfect storage place. I love it.
