Upon first glance, I thought this was the traditional paint or stain contact technique and was surprised to find that the chair was covered in paper using decoupage and poly cover coat to finish. The instructions showed the use of a bare razor blade to cut the outer edges as you go. I am wondering if a wallpaper blade knife might be a bit safer and allow for greater control since the blade would be enclosed in the case, and easily snapped off for a fresh one as needed. The edges were left bare so in this chair you can see the layers of wood ply on the sides. An option might be to stain the edges to compliment the applied paper. An interesting and creative project!

I love the look of this! It's a great (and really easy) way to personalize a basic chair
