This storage bench looks pretty simple to make, although it says that it is "intermediate". I would think you could easily modify the size to custom fit any space in your home. You could also paint the bench any color you want. I like the idea of being able to make it your own style too by customizing it in a number of ways. One could even add small, but strong casters to be able to roll it around if needed.

This is a wonderful idea, because almost all the store bought entry hall or mud room benches are either too expensive or the wrong size! Making this yourself ensures it will fit just right! Another option is to leave the front open, and insert baskets, or even shelves for faster access and a more informal look. That way, one kid can be seated taking off their boots, while another kid can be looking below for theirs! Super idea!

Speaking about modifying it to fit the space... I want one of these at the foot of our queen-size bed. It can catch our comforter and provide a place were we can sit down to pull off our shoes. It would also provide much needed storage space for extra linens.I'd probably add a cushion on top that coordinates with our bedroom decor! Oh the places you'll go!
