Repurpose an old vanity cabinet or any piece of unwanted furniture by learning how to make a DIY vanity using chalk paint. This is one of the best DIY projects because chalk paint gives furniture that vintage look without multiple coats or a lot of work. It is the perfect task for someone who usually hates painting. With chalk paint, there is no need to sand or prime your piece of furniture, just wipe it down and paint. Quickly turn a boring old vanity cabinet into a vibrant, new piece of vintage wall decor for your home.

The vintage look has a huge following. What's the saying, "Everything old is new again?" I like the bold use of color here with the vanity. I am still partial to the faded out colors. However I like the way this piece turned out. Perhaps my next project I will venture out and select a bold color.

I feel like someone was reading my mind. I found a piece of furniture on the sidewalk. It needs to be painted but I did not want to sand it down. And then I see this. Perfect! I am looking for a bold color as well. When you just rent and all the colors of the walls are white you need color. I was wandering around an hardware store this afternoon not sure what to get. You answered my question. Chalk paint it is! Thank you.

Ahh, the beauty of chalk paint! No sanding or prepping, except you do need to clean the item first, but that is usually quite easy! This project is really cute and I like the idea of repurposing this old bathroom vanity into a sweet little wall cabinet. There are so many different colors of chalk paint available from many different sources, so you could go with many options. I would probably do a little distressing and sanding edges on this type of cabinet, but it looks great the way it is too, it's just a taste preference. Great idea!

My family lives in an older farm house and we happen to have a cabinet very similar to this one. Not like we need any painting tricks to make the item look vintage but I really like the idea of the bold color choice. Perhaps I'll try a smaller painting project like this one and determine how much I like chalk paint.

Love the vintage look of this! My next project in my bathroom!
