DIY Denim IKEA Crate Footstool with Storage

From the blogger: "This has to be one of the best IKEA hacks ever. Combined an IKEA crate with some IKEA casters and a pair of jeans to create this awesome ottoman. Not only is this a nifty piece of furniture with some super handy storage, but it can be personalized, too. You can stencil your family name on the side of the crate. This, combined with the upholstered denim seat, add to the lovely vintage industrial farmhouse look. This killer combination of extra seating and storage in one would look great in any den or teen bedroom as well as the main living room."

A few years ago I bought a lovely old crate with a view to finding a good use for it one day. Well it finally seems that the day finally arrived. I will use some hand designed mud cloth (a project elsewhere on this site) for the upholstery and it is going to be really good.

I like this DIY Denim IKEA Crate Footstool with Storage idea. I'm thinking of doing this project with a old milk crate I bought at a flea market. I have sanded down the crate and haven't done anything with it. This would work will and I'll have a nice storage/foot stool for my family room. I have a enough wood stain left over from doing the wood trim in my family room so now I can have a matching footstool. Thank you so much for sharing this free DIY idea that I'll be doing.

Very practical and creative idea for a foot stool! I love that it has caster wheels which makes it so nice to move around! Using denim is a good choice because it wears so well, but I could see the cushion done in any type of canvas fabric, or even fabric that is covered in an iron on protective vinyl which I have used successfully on bar stools. Great project!
