Got bits of fabric scraps that you don’t know what to do with? Put those pieces to good use by sewing this Fabric Scrap Teapot DIY Coaster. Since the fabric for these homemade coasters is just leftover pieces that you already own, this is a very affordable DIY craft idea. Teapot coasters are great to have around the house if you are a tea drinker. Your tables will be protected from the pot; so, you can keep a fresh pot of tea by you anywhere in the house! You can also adjust the dimensions of this craft if you want to make a coaster for a cup or mug.

I love easy projects like this, and actually have a hand-held portable stitching machine that is super easy to use and makes stitching a breeze, especially when not a lot of stitching is needed. Eventually I will have set up my actual sewing machine and end up making up a sewing room in my house, but for now the portable stitcher makes projects like this super easy to do without the use of a sewing machine.

I have scraps upon scraps but I am only a beginner with a sewing machine, I didn't really know what to start with for practice but this looks like a great one to start with! I will be giving this one a shot....people are going to get fed up of me giving them coasters now)

these are so pretty! This would be a great way to use all the fabric quarters I keep buying. Unfortunately, I don't have a sewing machine, and can barely sew on a button!! If I could sew, I would make these and sell them.

What a great pattern! I think anyone who sews has scraps around that could be used for this project. Even if your sewing skills are basic you can make this. My only suggestion would be, before you turn the coaster right side out you might need to clip the curve around the edge a little so it lays flat.

This pattern is so much fun! Easy to sew and with the tons of fabric scraps I have on hand, this is a lovely and practical way to use them! I love how the squares are quilted into pie snap wedges which not only serves to quilt it and give it strength, it looks great too! This pattern can do double duty as a trivet for a hot serving plate as well! Or you could make smaller ones for cup or glass coasters for a complete set! Super idea! Thanks for sharing this lovely project idea!
