I honestly love playing with fabric, and this is one project that not only looks like super fun to do, but it actually seems pretty simple. Although, whenever I do my sewing, unless it's a bigger project, for the stitching part, I would much rather just hand-stitch then using a sewing machine, although using a machine can make the edges look a little less ragged then I'm often able to do. Still, I would just hand sew the pieces to make it way simpler.
