How to Create a Makeup Compact Organizer

  1. Gather Your Supplies: You're going to want to gather all of your materials. If you would like to paint or bedazzle your box, now is the time to do that. Be sure to give it plenty of time to dry.

  2. Trace: Using your sharpie, trace the outline of your box on the craft foam. You're going to want to try and stay as closely to the edge of your box as you can.

  3. Cut: Using your Xacto knife, begin cutting where you made your line on the craft foam. You will want to go on the inside of the black line, since you want your foam to be slightly smaller than your box. This will also keep the black sharpie lines from showing up.
You will want to make sure that your foam piece fits into yoru box when you are done cutting it. If it is too big shave off bits of the edges until it is the right size.

  4. Measure: Taking your Xacto knife and your compacts that you are looking to put in your box make small cuts with your Xacto knife from the middle of your compact. This will help so that you don't make your lines too close to each other.

  5. Stretch: Continue to cut along the small incision you made so that they go all the way across the foam leaving about 1/2" for each side. Then, using your fingers simply stretch the foam open to widen it and fit your compacts.

  6. Finish Up: Place your craft foam in your box and put it into place. Then, fill your box with your compacts!

I was about to buy an organizer for my makeup but I saw this and it's way affordable. I can't wait to decorate my box, I've had this left over glitter that's dying to be put to use.

What a great DIY organizer idea! I love how you can customize the outside of the box.
