How to Contour Your Face Step by Step
Instructions
-
Apply your foundation how you normally would.
-
Using your cream contour kit, or your concealer and stick contour products, add any beauty oil as desired or as needed.
-
Using a flat foundation brush apply the lightest part of your concealer in triangle shapes under your eyes. Also apply to the center of your forehead, down the bridge of your nose, on your chin, around your mouth (if desired), and beneath the place where you'll be putting your dark contour under your cheekbones (if desired).
-
Apply the darker part of your contour underneath your cheekbones, typically going from the top of your ear toward the corner of your mouth. However, don't actually apply your cream contour more than halfway down your cheek. Also apply your dark cream contour to the top and corner of your forehead, down the sides of your nose, and underneath your jaw.
-
With a beauty blender or sponge, start to blend out the lighter cream part of your contour.
-
Using either a brush or that same beauty blender, begin to blend out the darkest part of your contour.
-
Continue to blend. Feel free to add more concealer under the contour of your cheekbone to sharpen it up, and then blend that out as well.
-
Once you have blended everything the way you like it, take your undereye setting powder and set the area under your eyes.
-
Using your all over face powder and powder brush, set the rest of your face. Be sure to use dotting or dabbing motions and do not sweep your brush back and forth on your face.
-
Using your bronzer brush or a contour brush, reapply your bronzing powder in any areas you want to give an extra dramatic affect to.
-
Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. Be sure not to apply your blush too close to your nose, because that can make your face look "caved in."
-
Using your highlighting powder, highlight the tops of your cheeks, your nose, your Cupid's bow (right above the upper lip), and any other areas of the face you would like.
-
Spray your entire face with setting spray, and you are ready to finish the rest of your makeup!

This is a great instructional and it really shows how you can play up your bone structure using these techniques. I have used similar ones and for full makeup these tips are great. For the day to day or when you are in a hurry, I just put in foundation, then a quick dusting of contour powder on the hollow of my checks and behind eyelids, then a lighter shade on the top of the cheek bone, a dash of blush and done. It is so fun to experiment with different makeup techniques!

Such a great tutorial! I love all of the tips about putting on blush and eliminating under eye circles. They're great for working into my everyday makeup routine! Maybe a future video could be - What makeup should you put on if you only want to spend 15 minutes getting ready?

The only thing that looks daunting is the long list of products used! I count 2 kinds of highlighter and a bronzer in addition to the contour kit. Might be scary for beginners who may not have all those products! But I love the tutorial! :)

I love this! Didn't know it til now but I've been doing part of my contour WAYY wrong.. so thanks for thanks for the video! You talk about having small lips (same). Do you think you could do a lipstick video about how to make your lips look bigger, or just how to make small lips pop?
