If you are looking to find how to make a bed frame out of wood, try this Simple DIY Bed Frame. It's about as basic of a frame as you can get, yet it looks charming. Leaving the natural wood look may or may not appeal to you, but painting your new bed frame would be easy, too. Building a bed frame yourself can seem difficult, but if you are looking for a simple way to keep your mattress off the floor, this is the best project you'll find.

I have been seeing more bed frames without headboards like this lately. It's not something I would normally think of, but I actually really love the simple look of it!

I need to make three of these for my teens. Kids can be so hard on beds anymore. I think that these would be great because they are so easy and inexpensive to replace if they get too rowdy in their rooms like usual. Thanks for sharing a great idea!

I really liked the idea of this bed frame until I realized it is not a frame that the bed sits on, but is rather just a box around the bed, with the box spring and mattress sitting on the floor inside of it. For someone wanting a frame to sit the mattress on, this will not work. You can however easily modify it to work. Add a piece of 2x4 (cut approximately 2 inches shorter than the height of the frame) to each corner on the inside of the frame, and secure them into place. Then lay a snug fitting piece of plywood or particle board on top. Viola, you have a bed frame to sit your mattress on. If your plywood or particle board is thin, it is a good idea to add support underneath it in the center of the frame.

I'm totally guilty of still having my mattress on the floor of my apartment. I need a bed frame STAT. This looks easy enough. Maybe it's the perfect project to start in the new year :)
