I'm sure that this is a recipe that works very well, but I just don't see its value. I don't understand how it is any safer to ammonia? I also live in the North, where we go through a TON of washer fluid (bugs...mud...slush...grime...) and I can buy an entire just for about two dollars. I just think that making my own is a waste of time.

I like the idea of making my own windshield washer fluid with out the use of methanol. But we have to remember that ammonia isn't all that safe either. So please keep this away from pets and kids. I will make this and use a red food color to show that is's not safe to drink. I don't have a windshield fluid bottle to reuse so I'll use a old vinegar bottle and mark it with red marker what it is. I live in the north and so I'll be adding the isopropyl alcohol, but more then what the recipe states, this way it should dry faster. On the bloggers page some one said that this may hurt the paint on the car. I hope this isn't true and don't think it is. I use most of these ingredients in my car wash recipe. Thank you for sharing this free DIY recipe.

I will do not like using chemicals so anytime I see a post to make your own without these harmful ingredients I will. I never would have figured out how to make this if I had not seen this tutorial and it is so easy to make. I like that you have the option of the ammonia or the vinegar. I hate dirty car windows because it makes it hard to see out of them so I am going to make this and try it.Anyone make any yet?

I ran out of windshield wiper fluid during a snow storm once. It was not a good thing. I am excited to try this DIY project, so I can have some ready so I don't get stuck in that position again!

Wow, I had no idea you could make windshield washer fluid at home. It's great that it leaves out those harmful chemicals.
